You can still choose your favourite foods – lasagne, a snack, a soft drink – but by choosing wisely (and in moderation) you can easily keep fat, salt or sugars within the guidelines. All it takes is a few smart swaps.

Let’s look at some savoury snacks and drinks. Sometimes you might fancy a packet of crisps; at other times you might swap it for a lower fat version or have nuts and raisins or snack on a banana instead. The choice is yours. Just keep in mind those GDAs and build the diet that suits your needs. Vary your choice of foods for snacks and drinks (including plenty of fruit and veg) to help balance your diet.
