What's on the Nutrition Label?

Snacks and Drinks

Nutrition information sets out the amount of each key nutrient in an individual food or drink product. This can help you keep track of what you are eating. Use nutrition information to compare the energy or nutrient levels of different foods and help you make appropriate choices
when shopping.

Although there is no legal requirement to provide nutrition information on food labels unless a nutrition claim is made, most food manufacturers include this voluntarily. Where nutrition information is shown, legal requirements set out exactly what information must be provided, and
how it must be displayed.

When label space on the pack is very limited, such as on an individual snack item, nutrition information may be provided without using a table. Many food manufacturers provide more detailed nutrition information on company websites.

For more information go to our legal requirements for food labelling section.
